About the Role
Key responsibilities include performing preventative and corrective maintenance on critical equipment such as boilers, chillers, cooling towers, air handling units, fire alarm, pneumatic tube, and trash and linen systems. The engineer monitors system performance, conducts inspections, works with subcontractors for repairs and calibrations, and records all activities in a computerized maintenance management system. • Perform preventative and corrective maintenance on boilers, chillers, cooling towers, fan coils, air handling units, fire alarm, pneumatic tube, trash and linen systems. • Monitor and inspect facility systems to ensure uptime, asset integrity, and compliance with safety and environmental standards. • Coordinate with subcontractors for equipment repairs, preventative maintenance, and calibration tasks. • Record work orders, logs, and repair data in the computerized maintenance management system (CMMS). • Recommend and procure spare parts and supplies for facility equipment. • Support implementation of the preventative maintenance (PM) program and maintain related documentation. • Maintain, troubleshoot, and repair building equipment and systems as needed. • Keep all assigned tools in good condition and arrange repairs or replacements as required. • Maintain clean work areas and adhere to good housekeeping practices. • Deliver exceptional customer service and foster positive client relationships. • Respond promptly to work orders and assignments according to the Facility Maintenance Services Agreement response times. • Collaborate effectively with maintenance staff, hospital personnel, management, and contractors. • Perform duties safely and in strict compliance with company and site-specific occupational health and safety policies. • Maintain accurate equipment logbooks and maintenance records required by regulatory authorities. • Conduct facility walkthroughs to identify and report equipment deficiencies and improvement suggestions. • Ensure confidentiality of company and client business activities.

What You Bring
The position emphasizes strong customer service, teamwork, safety, and housekeeping. The engineer must respond quickly to work orders per the Facility Maintenance Services Agreement, keep work areas clean, and adhere to all occupational health, environmental, and fire protection regulations. Qualified candidates have at least five years of facility maintenance experience in healthcare or similar settings, hold an Ontario TSSA 4th Class and/or Refrigeration B certificate, and possess hands‑on experience with boilers, chillers, generators, and central utility plant equipment. Additional requirements include knowledge of building automation systems (Metasys preferred), flexible shift availability, physical capability to lift 50 lb and work on ladders, and compliance with vaccination, driver’s license, and background check policies. • Minimum 5 years of facility maintenance experience in healthcare, university, food, manufacturing, or similar industrial settings. • Hold Ontario TSSA 4th Class Certificate and/or Refrigeration B Certificate. • Hands‑on experience with boilers, pressure vessels, chillers, generators, water‑treatment systems, and other central utility plant equipment. • Knowledge of hydronic, pneumatic systems, and building automation (Metasys) preferred. • Ability to work flexible 8‑hour or 12‑hour rotating shifts, on‑call, standby, and emergency call‑outs, including holidays. • Physical ability to lift/carry 50 lb, work on ladders, and stand for extended periods in a fast‑paced environment. • Proficient oral and written communication in English; competent with computers and handheld devices. • Fully vaccinated with proof, valid Ontario G driver's license, and able to pass extensive security/background checks.
