About the Role

The Rebar Detailer is responsible for creating detailed rebar layouts from contractor drawings, plans, or blueprints. The role includes training junior detailers and exploring ways to integrate new technologies into rebar fabrication operations. • Determine design requirements for concrete and masonry reinforcement. • Generate accurate placement drawings for submittal and field reinforcement. • Facilitate coordination among contractor, fabricator, and ironworkers to meet schedule, budget, and quality goals. • Maintain clear comparison of detailed weights and quantities versus estimates; report discrepancies. • Communicate with customers and fabrication manager to ensure reasonable scheduling expectations. • Clarify missing or unclear reinforcing information with customers or designers. • Update project status in the project management system (aSa, RMS, or other). • Train entry‑level detailers to produce structural rebar detailings manually or using CAD. • Gather project details from customers and coordinate schedules with the rebar shop. • Provide oversight in reviewing plans and specifying how rebar should be bent, cut, and sized.

What You Bring

The position requires strong data‑analysis skills to resolve missing or inconsistent information and to ensure accurate weight and quantity comparisons. Independence grows over time, with guidance provided only for unusual or complex problems, and output is periodically reviewed by supervisors or customers. Work is performed in a comfortable indoor setting, with occasional exposure to dust, fumes, temperature extremes, loud noise, drafts, or bright lights. Most time is spent sitting or standing in a fixed location, with occasional stooping and lifting of light materials (under 8 lb). Overnight travel is limited to less than 10 % of the time. A bachelor's degree in a related discipline is typically required, along with 5–8 years of relevant experience, or a master’s degree with 3–5 years of experience. Certain certifications may be required depending on the location. • Certificate of completion in drafting, industrial drawing, or construction from a college or technical school. • Work experience in construction, rebar fabrication, or drafting. • Engineering background preferred.
