About the Role

In this role you will apply electrical engineering expertise from concept to completion, leading the design and optimization of power distribution and control systems for greenfield and brownfield mining and heavy‑industrial projects. You will ensure safety, regulatory compliance, and risk analysis are embedded in all designs while coordinating with multidisciplinary teams to deliver high‑quality documentation and client solutions. Mentoring junior staff and building strong client relationships are also key elements of the position. • Lead design and optimization of electrical power distribution and control systems for greenfield and brownfield mining and heavy industrial projects. • Prepare and review specifications and datasheets for switchgear, MCCs, transformers, and other electrical equipment. • Conduct power system studies (load flow, short circuit, arc flash) using ETAP or EasyPower. • Integrate safety, regulatory compliance, and risk analysis into system designs. • Develop designs for electrical distribution, motor control, grounding, lighting, and cable support systems. • Perform engineering calculations and guide technical decisions with senior leadership input. • Conduct site reviews, field verifications, and client visits as required. • Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams across offices to ensure seamless project delivery. • Produce technical reports, construction specifications, cost estimates, and design documentation. • Mentor junior staff and contribute to team capability and technical excellence. • Build and maintain strong client relationships through responsive, solution‑oriented service.

The ideal candidate brings at least five years of design experience on heavy‑industrial projects and holds a Professional Engineer licence in British Columbia, with eligibility in other jurisdictions considered an asset. A strong command of CSA, ANSI, and IEEE standards, together with proficiency in power‑system modelling software such as ETAP or EasyPower, is essential. Experience with distribution, grounding, lightning protection, lighting, fire alarm, heat tracing, and cathodic protection systems is required, while knowledge of instrumentation, controls, and automation adds further value. • Minimum 5 years of electrical engineering design experience on heavy industrial projects. • Registered Professional Engineer (P.Eng) in British Columbia; eligibility in other jurisdictions is a plus. • Working knowledge of CSA, ANSI, IEEE standards and applicable codes. • Proficiency with power system modelling software and electrical design tools such as ETAP or EasyPower. • Ability to design distribution, grounding, lightning protection, lighting, fire alarm, heat tracing, and cathodic protection systems. • Experience attending industrial sites and complying with safety regulations. • Beneficial experience in mills, smelters, mines, refineries, ports, pulp & paper, industrial plants, or renewable energy systems. • Knowledge of instrumentation, controls, automation, PLC/DCS/HMI systems and modelling tools is an asset. • Valid driver’s licence and strong written communication skills. • Ability to work collaboratively within a project team environment; French language skills are an asset.
