About the Role
This role works with the NIWC team to provide technical expertise in the Risk Management Framework (RMF) and cybersecurity engineering for multiple customers. The senior cybersecurity engineer will lead and support operational, technical, and process aspects of system A&A packages, including policy development and deliverables throughout the RMF lifecycle. The position involves guiding design, implementation, documentation, and troubleshooting of diverse IT environments across CONUS and OCONUS locations. • Serve as primary cybersecurity advisor to NIWC customers, providing RMF expertise and ISSE authorization up to Top Secret level. • Establish and maintain effective relationships with internal personnel and external representatives at various levels. • Analyze security findings, develop mitigations, and update POA&M. • Draft diagrams, plans, policies, and SOPs to document findings, procedures, and long‑term strategy. • Oversee execution of STIGs, SCAP, and ACAS scans in accordance with DoD and Navy guidance. • Direct ongoing management of VRAM site to maintain updated security scans and track IAVAs and cyber alerts. • Lead incident response as subject matter expert to investigate, contain, and remediate breaches. • Communicate complex security risks and requirements to technical and non‑technical stakeholders. • Provide strategic recommendations to secure systems and improve efficiency of security controls. • Mentor and guide other cyber professionals on the team. • Collaborate with site administrators and the cyber team to develop strategies improving security posture.

What You Bring
• Bachelor’s degree in Cybersecurity or related STEM field; Master’s degree highly desired. • Active Top Secret clearance required. • Ten years of experience managing project tasks and personnel. • Ten+ years of experience in DoD accreditation/authorization process. • Experience with Microsoft servers, networks, STIGs, SCAP, and ACAS. • Experience with JWICS RMF process highly desired. • Knowledge of Cross Domain Solutions highly desired. • Compliant with DoD 8140/8570 IAT Level II certification. • Ability to pass pre‑employment background check and drug test. • Work on military bases; travel as required; possible remote position. • Ability to lift 30 lb unaided or 80 lb aided.
