About the Role

The incumbent will collect facilities field data to support record updates and design documents, performing measurement, mapping, photography, equipment inventory, staking, and other reconnaissance tasks under senior technical direction. This role often serves as a design or staking assistant to more experienced field staff. A strong commitment to Pike Engineering’s core values and safety practices is required. Field data must be gathered accurately using paper drawings, forms, electronic collection devices, digital cameras, or other specified tools. The technician must quickly master handheld data‑collection units, laser range finders, GPS receivers, and digital imaging equipment, and record precise measurements and dimensions per project specifications. Assistance in power‑restoration efforts during natural‑disaster events may be required, and production targets and project milestones must be met, with occasional overnight travel. What You Bring

This entry‑level field technician position may serve as a training slot for a Designer or CAD role within Pike Engineering. The ideal candidate is well‑organized, communicates effectively in writing, and is familiar with MS Office and, when applicable, CAD drafting systems. Experience in utility design or line construction, familiarity with GIS and basic data structures, high self‑motivation, and the ability to work independently are also desired. The role requires working primarily in an outside environment. The role demands self‑motivation, the ability to work independently while also being team‑ and customer‑oriented, and the capacity to manage multiple tasks and help train new peers. A valid driver’s license and comfort with working outdoors in all weather conditions are essential.
