About the Role
Mortenson is seeking a Director of Planning and Scheduling to lead project planning and execution, develop standardized lean planning frameworks, and support project teams in delivering safer, higher-quality, and more productive projects while minimizing risk. The role sets the strategic direction for planning, integrates it with Lean and Innovation goals, and governs policies that guide risk management across project teams. The director partners with technical leaders and operating groups, mentors planners, superintendents, foremen, and schedulers, and drives continuous improvement by documenting best practices and implementing just-in-time training. Key responsibilities include creating planning KPIs, assessing performance, and evaluating new processes, tools, and technologies to enhance project execution. • Define strategic direction for project planning and execution. • Integrate project planning with Lean and Innovation objectives. • Govern policies for planning and risk management. • Partner with technical leaders and operating groups to advance planning practices. • Lead, mentor, and develop planners, superintendents, foremen, and schedulers. • Document and share best practices for continuous improvement. • Implement just-in-time training and planning support for project teams. • Develop planning KPIs and assessment methodology. • Evaluate and adopt new processes, tools, and technologies.

What You Bring
Candidates must hold a bachelor’s degree in construction management or a related field, have at least 12 years of industry experience—including successful Lean construction implementations—and demonstrate strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills. Technical expertise required includes mastery of Primavera P6, CPM, LBS, WBS, The Last Planner System®, and familiarity with MS Project, 4D visual planning tools, and construction contracts, with the ability to travel up to 100 %. • Bachelor’s degree in construction management or related field. • Minimum 12 years of industry experience, including Lean construction implementation. • Proven experience leading company-wide project planning programs. • Background in field operations planning, work packaging, and trade-flow management. • Experience as superintendent or project manager on commercial construction projects. • Expertise in scheduling risk mitigation and claims handling. • Strong leadership, communication, problem-solving, and teamwork abilities. • Proficiency in Primavera P6; knowledge of CPM, LBS, WBS, The Last Planner System®, MS Project, and 4D visual planning tools. • Ability to travel up to 100% and legal U.S. work authorization.
