About the Role

The operative will work in occupied homes, respecting residents’ privacy, and will participate in an out‑of‑hours emergency rota as needed. Accurate recording of work using handheld devices and maintaining tools, equipment and the company vehicle are also required. • Carry out day‑to‑day responsive repairs across social housing properties • Replace or repair skirting boards, architraves, and internal door frames • Install and adjust kitchen units, worktops, and cupboard doors • Repair or replace internal doors, handles, locks, and hinges • Identify and fix minor plumbing issues such as leaks, dripping taps, and blocked sinks • Perform patch plastering and make good damaged walls or ceilings • Complete wall and floor tiling repairs, including grouting and sealing • Paint and decorate to a professional finish after repairs • Work sensitively in occupied properties, respecting residents’ privacy • Participate in out‑of‑hours emergency repair rota as required • Report further works, safeguarding concerns, or property issues beyond scope • Deliver excellent customer service in residents' homes • Accurately record job details, materials used, and completion notes via handheld devices or job sheets • Maintain tools, equipment, and company vehicle in good working order • Manage daily workload efficiently to meet service level targets

What You Bring

Mears Group is seeking a multi‑skilled operative to deliver responsive repairs on social housing properties. The role involves a variety of trades—carpentry, plumbing, plastering, tiling and decorating—and requires adapting to daily resident requests while maintaining high standards of safety and customer service. Candidates must hold a full UK driving licence, have experience across multiple domestic trades, and possess strong problem‑solving and communication skills. They must be able to work independently, follow health and safety regulations, and provide their own hand and power tools. Benefits

The position offers a salary up to £33,174.23 per annum, a company van and fuel card, and a 42.5‑hour week (Monday‑Friday, 8‑5). The role is full‑time, permanent and based in Folkestone.
