About the Role
A laborer/helper/Fire watch will assist with various manual needs of the maintenance work being performed, including but not limited to moving equipment, digging, retrieving equipment, standing by for fire safety, and any other tasks instructed by a supervisor or journeyman. Typical responsibilities include moving and retrieving equipment, using fire extinguishers, climbing onto structures and scaffolding, operating rigging and hoisting devices such as chokers, chain falls, and come‑alongs, and conducting preventative maintenance such as lubrication and repair of worn parts while following supervisor directions. • Assist with manual tasks such as moving, digging, and retrieving equipment while standing by for fire safety. • Operate fire extinguishers, climb structures and scaffolding, and use rigging devices to position materials. • Perform preventative maintenance including lubrication and repair of worn parts. • Follow supervisor directions and adhere to Zachry safety values and regulations. • Maintain reliable transportation and be available to work any of the seven days as needed.

What You Bring
The role requires the ability to meet all physical demands, experience using industrial hand and power tools, reliable transportation, and flexibility to work any of the seven days as needed. Required knowledge, skills, and abilities encompass basic hand‑tool proficiency, good problem‑solving and manual dexterity, reading comprehension, teamwork, effective communication with co‑workers and supervisors, and a commitment to Zachry’s values and safety rules. Preferred qualifications are Zachry ROF’ed or former Zachry employee status, basic mechanical knowledge, experience on an industrial construction site, and formal or technical education. Physical requirements involve extensive standing, walking, bending, squatting, lifting up to 50 lb, occasional work at heights, and the ability to operate in various weather conditions for up to 12 hours a day while wearing required personal protective equipment such as hard hat, safety glasses, ear protection, respirator, safety vest, gloves, and steel‑toe boots. • Possess experience with industrial hand and power tools, strong problem‑solving, and manual dexterity. • Work up to 12 hours per day, lift up to 50 lb, and perform tasks at heights while wearing required PPE. • Preferred: Zachry ROF’ed or former employee, basic mechanical knowledge, industrial construction experience, and formal/technical education.
