About the Role

Under the supervision of a Lead Technician, Maintenance Supervisor, or Maintenance Manager, a Maintenance Technician B is responsible for repairing and maintaining diesel and non‑diesel equipment and trucks, including chassis components, vehicle refuse bodies, control systems, hydraulics, electrical, air brakes, engines, HVAC, suspension, drivetrain, and steering. The technician works on a single fleet of state‑of‑the‑art vehicles, supporting drivers on their routes and ensuring reliable service. The role also includes basic tire work such as replacement, rotation, and tread depth checks, as well as line‑maintenance welding and fabrication, with occasional road service to return equipment to safe operation. All work is performed with safety as a top priority, both on‑site and on the road. • Perform chassis component repair and maintenance. • Service refuse bodies, including control, hydraulic, electrical, and air/brake systems. • Conduct engine repair, maintenance, and diagnostics. • Maintain suspension, drivetrain, steering, and HVAC components. • Execute basic tire work: replacement, rotation, and tread depth checks. • Perform line‑maintenance welding, fabrication, and on‑road service as needed. • Identify malfunctions using electronic diagnostic tools.

What You Bring

Candidates must have at least one year of experience diagnosing and repairing gasoline and diesel equipment or be near graduation from an accredited automotive program, a valid driver’s license, and the ability to perform inspections on heavy‑truck systems; ASE certifications and a CDL are preferred but not required. The technician must understand work order labor time standards and be capable of performing basic inspections on systems such as suspensions, steering, engines, transmissions, brakes, electrical, hydraulics, drivetrain, and diesel emissions.
