Lead safety program implementation & compliance for major NYC construction projects

About the Role
The Safety Manager will oversee safety program implementation for assigned projects, identify hazards, assess risks, conduct inspections, investigate incidents, and promote a safety‑first culture throughout the organization. • Provide strategic safety guidance to project teams and consult with clients on safety planning. • Review contractor compliance with OSHA, contractual requirements, and local regulations. • Verify safe work plans and SOPs meet MM and project specifications. • Develop, conduct, and track daily and monthly safety metrics and project status. • Review hazard analyses and ensure implementation of controls. • Oversee safety training verification, coordinate task‑specific training, and mentor field staff. • Ensure appropriate personal protective equipment is available and used. • Pre‑qualify subcontractors and review their hazard analyses and safety plans. • Manage delivery of regulatory and customer‑required safety training. • Interface with contractors, managers, supervisors, and team members to promote safety communication. • Collect and document site postings and OSHA information for reporting; investigate incidents and near‑misses. • Conduct safety observations, share best practices, and submit required safety reports and deliverables. • Build relationships with stakeholders, clients, contractors, and construction personnel. • Promote a culture of caring, safety consciousness, and teamwork. • Develop and present safety training materials; proficient in MS Office and digital tools.

What You Bring
• Bachelor’s degree in occupational health, safety or related field, or equivalent experience. • BCSP Certified Safety Professional (CSP) or similar certification preferred. • 10+ years construction safety experience, including 5+ years overseeing safety on large projects. • 5+ years safety program management experience. • Knowledge of New York State and NYC construction regulations and standards. • Ability and willingness to travel within the greater NYC region. • Strong leadership, communication, and collaborative problem‑solving skills. • Technical knowledge of regulatory standards and safety best practices. • Knowledge of OSHA 1926 & 1910 Subpart Standards, NYC DOB Chapter 33, and FDNY Chapter 14. • Valid driver’s license; OSHA 10, 30, 500 training; NYC‑SST; 40‑hr HAZWOPER (plus); CPR, First Aid, AED, and Blood‑Borne Pathogens. • Ability to develop, review, and comment on Health and Safety Plans; work under pressure.

The expected salary for this position is $113,000‑$135,000, determined by location, education, experience and unique skills.
