About the Role
The Quality Control Technician 2 ensures that untreated and treated materials, preservatives, and treating specifications meet industry, company, and customer quality standards. Responsibilities include administering field and laboratory tests, overseeing quality reports and databases, monitoring preservative concentrations, and maintaining accurate records. The role also involves coordinating regulatory compliance, supporting process improvements, and collaborating with production, inspectors, and the treating supervisor to optimize treating cycles. • Administer field and laboratory tests, evaluate results, and recommend material treatment. • Ensure and maintain Corporate Quality Policy on quality standards. • Oversee processing of quality reports and maintenance of quality databases. • Assist production departments in driving product quality. • Support implementation of process improvements. • Monitor preservative concentrations in work solutions to meet company and industry standards. • Oversee boring, inspection, and chemical analysis of treated charges; issue treating certificates and reports. • Monitor manufacturing processes to ensure conformance to minimum standards (incising, shaving, framing). • Maintain accurate records of field and laboratory analysis, inspections, correspondence, specifications, research, and other documents. • Communicate progress and conformance with independent, government, and company inspectors; participate in industry round robins. • Oversee regulatory compliance activities including field and laboratory sampling, analysis, and reporting. • Coordinate third‑party quality control inspections. • Work closely with the treating supervisor to optimize treating cycles and solution strengths. • Participate on company audit team, conducting quality audits of operating plants. • Complete daily, weekly, and monthly reports to plant leadership on inspection and compliance results. • Contribute to the company safety program.

What You Bring
Candidates should have a BA/BS degree or 2‑3 years of relevant production experience, with engineering, forest resources, business, or operations management education considered a plus. Preferred qualifications include management experience, knowledge of Lean Manufacturing principles, strong analytical and problem‑solving abilities, and excellent written and oral communication skills. Applicants must be adaptable team players capable of handling multiple projects, interpreting technical documents, and using standard office software. • Train to achieve qualifications and proficiency of a Quality Control Technician 1. • Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing principles (preferred). • Ability to prioritize work and manage multiple projects. • Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills. • Proficient oral and written communication. • Excellent teamwork and interpersonal skills. • Quick learner, adaptable, and embraces change. • Ability to read and interpret safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. • Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees. • Ability to work with mathematical concepts (probability, statistics, geometry, trigonometry) and apply fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions. • Proficiency with email, spreadsheet, database, word processing, and presentation software.
