About the Role

In this role you will join a multidisciplinary team of engineers, scientists and modelers, delivering engineering designs from conceptual to detailed stages with a focus on geotechnical aspects of mining facilities such as tailings, heap leach, water impoundments and waste rock dumps. Key duties include providing specialised technical input, preparing reports, drawings, specifications, bills of quantities and cost estimates, supporting project managers with time, budget and quality control, and travelling to UK or international sites to assist clients and oversee construction. You will also liaise with clients and internal mining networks, mentor graduate engineers, contribute to business development, and adhere to WSP’s Code of Conduct, health‑and‑safety policies and Equality Policy. • Deliver technical design for tailings, heap leach, water impoundments, waste rock dumps, soil improvement, and geosynthetic applications. • Prepare detailed reports, drawings, specifications, bills of quantities, and cost estimates for mining projects worldwide. • Support project managers with schedule, budget and quality control, and travel to UK and international sites as required. • Coordinate with clients and internal mining teams, representing WSP on‑site and maintaining strong relationships. • Mentor graduate engineers and contribute to business development through technical proposals. • Uphold WSP’s Code of Conduct, health‑and‑safety policies, and Equality Policy in all activities.

What You Bring

The ideal candidate holds a degree in civil, geotechnical engineering or engineering geology with strong soil‑mechanics knowledge, is familiar with national and international design guidelines, and has experience designing mine‑waste disposal facilities. Project‑management and consultancy experience, the ability to work effectively in a team, and willingness to travel – sometimes to remote locations – are also required. • Hold a degree in civil, geotechnical engineering or engineering geology with strong soil‑mechanics expertise. • Possess knowledge of national and international design codes and experience in mine‑waste facility design. • Demonstrate project‑management and consultancy skills, including client liaison and team collaboration. • Willingness to travel domestically and internationally, including remote locations.
