About the Role
This position is focused on developing and maintaining geospatial solutions that support business operations and decision‑making. You will work closely with clients and internal stakeholders to understand requirements and deliver solutions using both industry‑standard and open‑source GIS tools. The role emphasizes learning best practices in spatial analysis, software development, and cloud‑based GIS platforms, and is open to current or former HNTB interns. The work involves spatial data processing, map creation, and solution development, with responsibilities that include building interactive maps, dashboards, and supporting GIS systems throughout the software development lifecycle. • Develop geospatial solutions using ArcGIS, QGIS, and open‑source platforms. • Create interactive maps and dashboards with Leaflet, Mapbox, or similar web technologies. • Process and analyze spatial data using Python, SQL, and cloud‑based tools. • Support and troubleshoot GIS systems and solutions. • Collaborate with stakeholders to gather requirements and deliver solutions. • Participate in Agile development cycles and contribute to team sprints.

What You Bring
Candidates must have a bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, GIS, Computer Programming, Planning, Environmental Sciences, or a related field, or four years of relevant experience. Desired experience includes Python, JavaScript, or R for geospatial analysis, familiarity with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or GCP, and exposure to open‑source GIS tools like GeoServer and PostGIS. Internship or project experience in GIS or spatial analytics and a master’s degree are preferred. • Hold a bachelor’s degree in CS, GIS, or a related field (or 4 years relevant experience). • Experience with Python, JavaScript, or R for geospatial analysis. • Familiarity with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or GCP. • Exposure to open‑source GIS tools like GeoServer and PostGIS. • Understanding of spatial data formats and standards (e.g., GeoJSON, OGC).
