About the Role

The role includes assembling, installing, testing, and maintaining electrical wiring, equipment, appliances, and fixtures, as well as reading plans, organizing work, ensuring safety compliance, and supporting team objectives. • Assemble, install, test, and maintain electrical wiring, equipment, appliances, and fixtures using hand and power tools. • Connect wires to circuit breakers, transformers, and other components. • Test electrical systems and circuit continuity with ohmmeters, voltmeters, and oscilloscopes. • Install, repair, and maintain motors, transformers, generators, lights, appliances, circuits, and wiring in compliance with codes and standards. • Study plans, drawings, specifications, and work orders to determine requirements and sequence of work. • Repair and maintain high‑voltage systems. • Organize work by reviewing work orders and gathering tools and supplies. • Read prints, layout work, and install new service. • Replace faulty parts to resolve electrical problems. • Perform system tests and preventive maintenance. • Order and keep supplies stocked. • Maintain a safe work environment and comply with codes and procedures. • Update job knowledge through training and technical publications. • Contribute to team efforts and build relationships with diverse colleagues.

What You Bring

Mortenson is seeking a Solar Electrical Journeyman who will provide skilled craftsmanship for the maintenance and installation of electrical systems. Candidates must hold a high school diploma or GED, have at least two years of related experience, possess trade or technical school certification, a valid driver’s license, and be able to read plans and operate various tools and equipment. The position requires repetitive hand, arm, and leg movements and the ability to lift up to 50 lb (with assistance for heavier loads); Spanish language skills are a plus. • High school diploma or GED; trade or technical school certification. • Minimum two years of related electrical experience. • Pass apprentice aptitude test and complete union‑specific training. • Current driver’s license; ability to read plans and operate equipment such as table saws, radial arm saws, sanders, drill presses, fall protection gear, and rigging. • English proficiency; Spanish a plus; strong teamwork, customer service, detail orientation, active listening, and effective communication. • Ability to perform repetitive hand, arm, and leg movements; lift up to 50 lb (assisted for loads over 50 lb).
