About the Role

The General Repair Technician II is a mid‑entry level position at BGIS, tasked with assisting senior technicians and performing maintenance and repair on non‑technical facility components such as walls and floors. The role requires adherence to established processes and compliance with environmental, health and safety, and fire‑protection regulations. Core duties include troubleshooting mechanical and electrical systems, conducting regular inspections, and responding to routine service requests with preventative and corrective maintenance. The technician manages the full work‑order lifecycle in the service maintenance management database, ensures quality and contractual compliance, and supports the implementation of a preventative‑maintenance program. Additional responsibilities involve maintaining positive client relations through courteous service delivery, recording and tracking maintenance activities, participating in facility projects, and upholding corporate and legislative policies. The role also requires proper maintenance of tools, timely submission of expenditures, and readiness for shift work, on‑call duties, and emergency call‑outs. • Observe and report facility, mechanical, and electrical system conditions; suggest enhancements and repairs. • Perform preventative and corrective maintenance on non‑technical components per established procedures. • Conduct regular monitoring, inspections, and testing of facility systems. • Manage work orders from dispatch to completion, recording resolution data in the maintenance database. • Support the preventative‑maintenance program by identifying, documenting, and escalating deficiencies. • Deliver courteous service to tenants and customers to enhance satisfaction. • Record, track, and report maintenance status; initiate documentation for formal work approvals. • Participate in facility‑related projects and ensure compliance with environmental, health, safety, and fire‑protection regulations. • Maintain and repair assigned tools; submit expenditures promptly.

What You Bring

Candidates must possess a high school diploma or equivalent, at least three years of facility operations and maintenance experience, and a strong safety‑first mindset. Desired competencies include basic knowledge of Building Automation Systems, ability to read technical drawings, effective communication skills, computer literacy, and a valid driver’s license; security clearance and relevant certifications are considered assets. • Be available for shift work, on‑call/stand‑by, and emergency call‑outs; wear required personal protective equipment. • Hold a valid driver’s license and meet enhanced security‑clearance requirements. • Minimum 3 years of facility operations/maintenance experience and high school diploma or equivalent. • Basic knowledge of Building Automation Systems and ability to interpret technical drawings. • Strong safety mindset, client‑service orientation, and effective communication skills. • Possess or be working toward certifications such as Building Operator Certification, Building Systems Maintenance Certificate, Systems Maintenance Administrator/Technician, Facilities Technician Certification, or a trade license. • Demonstrated computer literacy and proficiency with maintenance management software.
