About the Role
Multiple internship positions are available to support the Port of Seattle’s Engineering Design Services Department, focusing on civil infrastructure and structural engineering. Interns will work closely with mentors in a team environment on both office and field engineering work, and civil or structural engineering students may apply. • Collect observations and assess the condition of Port assets and infrastructure. • Synchronize field observations with spreadsheets and CAD drawings and summarize findings. • Assist engineers with grading models, utility layouts, structural detailing, and design calculations. • Perform product research, data entry, quantity take‑offs, AutoCAD drafting, and review construction shop drawings and submittals. • Collaborate effectively with a multidisciplinary engineering design team.

What You Bring
Candidates should be currently enrolled in or have recently graduated (<1 year) from an undergraduate engineering program such as civil engineering or architectural design. They are expected to uphold equity, demonstrate curiosity about design codes and industry practices, collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, be technologically savvy with Microsoft Office (AutoCAD preferred), communicate effectively, and stay organized and proactive. • Be enrolled in or a recent graduate (<1 year) of an undergraduate engineering degree or certificate program (civil, architectural design, or related). • Show curiosity in learning design codes, standards, industry practices, and facility systems. • Proficient in Microsoft Office, especially Excel and Word; AutoCAD knowledge preferred. • Exhibit strong verbal and written communication skills and experience working with diverse populations. • Maintain strong organizational skills and the ability to balance and prioritize multiple projects.
