About the Role

In this position you will support Defence clients across the full commercial lifecycle, including procurement and commercial strategy, end‑to‑end contract management, risk and performance management, negotiation, continuous improvement, governance and compliance, as well as business analysis and problem solving. Key objectives include delivering service excellence through market‑leading capability and data‑driven insight, managing risk and performance with robust governance, driving business transformation and stakeholder engagement, and providing formal and informal leadership through coaching and mentoring. • Deliver end‑to‑end commercial and procurement services for UK Defence clients across public and private sectors. • Develop and implement procurement and commercial strategies, contract management, and risk/performance frameworks. • Lead negotiations, continuous improvement initiatives, and ensure compliance with governance and legal standards. • Analyse business data, solve problems, and provide strategic advice throughout project lifecycles. • Mentor and coach team members, fostering knowledge sharing and leadership development. • Apply procurement principles, contract placement, and commercial assurance to optimise value and drive innovation. • Manage supplier relationships, monitor performance, and execute category management activities. • Work hybrid with approximately 60 % time on client sites or Turner & Townsend offices, adapting to business needs.

What You Bring

The Senior Commercial and Procurement Manager role is focused on the UK Defence sector and requires candidates to be sole UK nationals able to obtain and maintain UK MoD Security Clearance (SC). Existing clearance is desirable but not mandatory. The ideal candidate brings extensive commercial experience in a relevant sector, a passion for delivering world‑class outcomes, and the ability to work within a high‑functioning team. While a full match to all listed skills is not essential, a strong commitment to the role and relevant expertise are valued. Required experience covers procurement principles, contract management, commercial decision‑making at tender stage, development of business cases and strategies, supplier performance monitoring, team leadership, handling complex stakeholder issues, and supplier/category management. Applicants should hold or be eligible for relevant professional qualifications in Business, Procurement/Supply Chain, Law, Project Management or equivalent experience, and be familiar with Defence and Security Public Contracting Regulations, the Public Contract Regulations and the Procurement Act 2023. The role operates on a hybrid model, with roughly 60 % of time on client sites or Turner & Townsend offices, adapting to business needs. • Hold or be eligible for UK MoD Security Clearance (SC) and be a sole UK national. • Possess professional qualifications or equivalent experience in Business, Procurement, Law, Project Management, or related fields.
