About the Role
The role focuses on inspecting, maintaining, and repairing specialised mining machinery such as drill rigs, trucks, and loaders, working with complex hydraulic, electrical, and automation systems. You will follow defined commissioning timelines, perform systemic failure analysis, capture automation data, and report findings and recommendations to customers. Key responsibilities include commissioning Automine® and OptiMine® products at customer sites, providing technical support for complex issues, resolving and reporting technical problems, assisting with field‑testing of new products, delivering on‑site commissioning and technical assistance, and helping customers with parts interpretation and stock recommendations while adhering to Sandvik’s EHS Vision of Zero Harm. • Commission Automine® and OptiMine® systems at customer sites. • Provide technical support for complex automation issues to operators and service personnel. • Conduct on‑site commissioning, field testing, and trials of new products and retrofit kits. • Resolve and report technical problems, perform systemic failure analysis, and capture automation data. • Assist customers with parts interpretation, stock recommendations, and remote system support.

What You Bring
We are seeking skilled and proactive technicians passionate about service and technical support for the Sandvik Mining System Technician – Automation role at Northparkes Mine, located about 27 km from Parkes in Central West NSW. The position follows a 7‑on/7‑off day/night shift roster and is residentially based in Parkes. Candidates must hold a trade qualification in Electrical or Mechanical disciplines with a minimum of five years’ experience, including practical knowledge of Electrical or Electronics Engineering Technology and machine CAN‑bus systems. Preferred experience includes working with TCP/IP networks, Wi‑Fi, communication protocols, underground mining remote control systems, strong investigative and diagnostic skills, and the ability to work underground when required. • Hold a trade qualification in Electrical or Mechanical disciplines with at least 5 years experience. • Experience with machine CAN‑bus systems and knowledge of IT and communication protocols (TCP/IP, Wi‑Fi). • Strong investigative, diagnostic, and on‑site commissioning skills, including underground work. • Preferred experience with underground mining remote control systems and systemic failure analysis.
