About the Role

The role involves collecting and analyzing field data from surveys, plans, drawings, and reports, and using inspection instruments to assess site conditions, equipment, materials, and construction against applicable codes and permits. The inspector will verify load calculations, interpret contract documents, monitor project phases, and ensure quality control and compliance, while coordinating with cross‑functional teams and contractors. Additional duties include preparing clear documentation of inspection findings, adhering to client and safety policies, and exercising ethical decision‑making in line with WSP’s Code of Conduct. • Collect, compile, and analyze site data, surveys, plans, and technical drawings for inspections. • Use survey instruments, metering devices, and test equipment to assess project conditions and ensure compliance with codes and permits. • Provide technical assistance for the inspection, construction, and operation of buildings, infrastructure, and mechanical systems. • Verify load calculations, change orders, and contract specifications, escalating discrepancies as needed. • Monitor project phasing and contractor work to maintain quality control and contract compliance. • Attend pre‑construction meetings, answer contractor queries, and coordinate inspection schedules. • Calculate contractor payments for completed work and ensure adequate equipment and material allocation. • Produce accurate documentation of findings using electronic systems, photos, drawings, spreadsheets, and reports. • Follow client policies, safety guidelines, and WSP’s Code of Conduct in all inspection activities. • Collaborate with engineers, inspectors, project controls, and technicians throughout inspection phases.

What You Bring

The position requires a high school diploma, at least nine years of relevant experience, ODOT Prequalified Project Inspector 1 status (or ability to obtain it), a valid driver’s license, and strong knowledge of construction codes, inspection practices, and technical communication. Preferred qualifications include a bachelor’s degree in a related field and the ability to travel occasionally, with work schedules that may extend beyond a typical week. • Minimum 9 years of construction inspection experience with a high school diploma. • ODOT Prequalified Project Inspector 1 status or ability to obtain within one month. • Valid state driver’s license and ability to pass WSP motor‑vehicle screening. • Strong knowledge of construction codes, regulations, and record‑keeping. • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and technical writing skills. • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a dynamic environment. • Analytical mindset with critical‑thinking and problem‑solving abilities. • Proficiency with office software, spreadsheets, and inspection tools. • Proven safety record and compliance with WSP health, safety, and harassment policies.
