About the Role

This maintenance position is a non‑per‑diem role for a Combination Welder who will support pipe installation projects by welding, fabricating, and assisting pipe fitters with various industrial piping systems. • Weld pipe in 2‑g, 4‑g, and 6‑g positions using stick and TIG processes. • Fabricate, layout, align, cut, and assemble metal components for pipe systems. • Set up and operate arc, gas‑shielded, submerged‑arc, and arc‑gas welding equipment. • Follow approved welding procedures for carbon steel, stainless, chrome, and Inconel. • Identify required equipment, safety risks, and job‑specific welding procedures. • Assist pipe fitters with installation, preparation, and fabrication tasks. • Read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, and technical manuals. • Carry and use the specified tool set, including metal toolbox, stinger, TIG rig, welding hood, chipping hammer, Klein pliers, crescent wrenches, tape, file, beater, torpedo level, combination square, welding gloves, leather apron, rain coat, and rubber boots. • Adhere to all PPE requirements: hard hat, safety glasses/goggles, hearing protection, respirator, safety vest, gloves, and leather work boots. • Perform physically demanding tasks such as standing, walking, bending, squatting, lifting up to 50 lb, and working at slight heights with ladders or platforms.

What You Bring

The successful candidate will have a strong background in industrial pipe welding, be capable of interpreting technical drawings, and hold or obtain the necessary welding certifications. The job involves physically demanding activities, requiring the ability to stand, lift, work at heights, and consistently use required personal protective equipment. The welder must bring a complete set of prescribed tools on the start date and will report to a supervisor, with no direct reports. • Maintain current Zachry welding certification or successfully pass a weld test. • Preferred: current Zachry employee or former experience with Zachry Industrial, Inc., and experience on combined‑cycle power plant construction projects.
