About the Role
As a Design Specialist – Mechanical, you will conduct mechanical systems analysis, provide technical reviews, mitigate design risk, and generate optimization opportunities for design‑build and design‑bid‑build projects. Key duties include reviewing constructability, design details, quantity takeoffs, and construction sequencing; evaluating energy models, LEED compliance, and life‑cycle costs; assessing project documentation against code requirements; proposing solutions to improve design and constructability; and collaborating with multidisciplinary teams and subcontractors. • Perform technical reviews of mechanical systems for constructability, sequencing, and logistics. • Evaluate energy models, LEED compliance, and life‑cycle cost analyses. • Review project drawings, specifications, and shop drawings for code compliance. • Propose design optimizations and solutions to construction challenges. • Provide guidance on non‑conformances and operational issues. • Coordinate with internal teams, subcontractors, engineers of record, and clients. • Collaborate with other design disciplines to improve overall project coordination.

What You Bring
The role is based in the Headquarters division in Nashville, TN, classified as an experienced, salaried exempt position requiring a bachelor's degree and ten years of experience. The position requires a B.S. in Engineering, a Professional Mechanical Engineer license, at least four years of mechanical engineering experience, strong knowledge of U.S. building codes, cost estimation, and BIM/3D software, as well as excellent written and verbal communication skills. • Hold a Professional Mechanical Engineer license and maintain renewal credits. • Minimum four years of mechanical engineering experience across design and construction phases. • Proficiency with BIM and 3D software (Navisworks, Revit, AutoCAD, Rhino, SketchUp) and collaboration tools (Bluebeam Studio). • Strong written and verbal communication skills and ability to work in interdisciplinary teams. • Ability to meet physical demands of construction site work, including climbing and lifting. • Travel up to 10% as required.
