About the Role

The leader will formulate capture strategies, build and maintain client relationships, and serve as a trusted advisor while promoting AECOM’s values. Responsibilities include managing client accounts, mentoring staff, ensuring projects meet scope, schedule, and budget, handling risk and change management, and providing technical expertise for studies, designs, and proposals. Strong analytical, communication, and people‑management skills are essential to deliver high‑quality, cost‑effective solutions. • Formulate and execute project capture strategies, including teaming and resource identification. • Establish and nurture relationships with external and internal clients. • Act as a visible leader and trusted advisor, promoting AECOM values internally and externally. • Manage client accounts, project pursuits, and engineering staff development. • Provide guidance, enforce policies, and serve as primary liaison between AECOM and stakeholders. • Mentor staff to ensure effective project and program delivery and professional growth. • Administer projects from inception to closeout, overseeing scope, schedule, budget, risk, and change management. • Lead business development activities, including prospecting and proposal development with local agencies. • Approve and sign off on work, delivering technical expertise for studies and designs. • Present complex technical solutions to clients and perform quality control reviews. • Participate in technical proposal development and interdisciplinary review of deliverables. • Serve as technical advisor, providing specialized input for studies and designs. • Lead and manage projects and teams, ensuring high‑quality, cost‑effective outcomes. • Develop study and design procedures and prepare technical specifications. • Contribute to engineering budget and schedule development to meet project requirements.

What You Bring

We are seeking a creative and highly talented Surface Transportation Group Leader for our Meridian/Boise office. The role oversees active project and program tasks, manages teams, drives business development, and supports a variety of transportation and infrastructure projects—including planning, engineering, construction support, and program management across sectors such as surface transportation, transit, rail, bridges, utilities, and related facilities. Candidates must hold a BA/BS with at least ten years of relevant experience, including two years in a leadership role. Preferred qualifications include a civil or transportation engineering degree, an Idaho Professional Engineer license (or ability to obtain one within six months), fifteen-plus years of progressive design and delivery experience, and a proven track record in business development, client presentations, and transportation project management. Established relationships with the Idaho Transportation Department and local agencies are highly valued. • Minimum: BA/BS and 10 years relevant experience, including 2 years leadership. • Preferred: Bachelor’s in Civil/Transportation Engineering and Idaho PE license (or ability to obtain within 6 months). • 15+ years progressive design and delivery experience; 5 years in proposals and business development. • Proven transportation project management experience and established relationships with Idaho Transportation Department and local agencies.
