About the Role
• Troubleshoot existing outdoor Fiber Optic plant systems spanning many miles. • Test, splice, and install outdoor Fiber Optic cable. • Install, wire, integrate, maintain, and program poles, cabinets, CCTV cameras, digital message signs, field switches, lowering devices, and related hardware. • Troubleshoot various electronics and IT-related issues in the field. • Follow company, client, and OSHA safety regulations. • Read and interpret installation manuals for equipment such as CCTV, VDS, field switches, encoders, decoders, and DMS. • Identify, select, and operate appropriate tools and equipment for jobs.

What You Bring
Parsons is seeking a talented Fiber Optic and Electronics Technology Field Technician for our Herndon, VA location. In this role you will support multiple clients by maintaining and installing a variety of roadside technologies. You will work on outdoor plant Fiber Optic systems, cabinets, CCTV cameras, digital message signs, field switches, and related hardware. • High school diploma or GED (ASEE/BSEE preferred) with 3+ years of progressive telecommunications installation and testing experience. • Fiber Optic Installer certification. • Fiber Optic troubleshooting experience. • Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions and lift up to 75 lbs short distances. • Capability to work on uneven terrain and flexible hours, including rotational on‑call. • Strong verbal comprehension in English to follow job site instructions. • Valid driver’s license meeting insurance requirements. • Ability to pass background check and drug screening. • Good computer skills and ability to follow directions. • At least 3 years of relevant telecom installation experience (preferred). • Ability to work independently and in all weather conditions. • Virginia Workzone Safety certification (a plus). • Experience with transportation technology systems (training provided). • Networking experience (a plus). • Willingness to travel within Virginia and occasionally to other states.
