About the Role
The role focuses on managing job cost accounting for construction projects, ensuring accurate billing, budget tracking, and compliance with subcontractor requirements. Collaboration with project managers and support for month‑end, quarter‑end, and year‑end close processes are essential, as is preparation for audits and maintenance of organized financial records. • Manage job cost accounting for assigned construction projects. • Review, code, and post project-related costs to ensure accuracy and compliance. • Prepare and process progress billings, including schedule of values, change orders, and retainage. • Track and reconcile project budgets, commitments, and cost variances. • Assist with preparation and review of work‑in‑progress (WIP) schedules. • Monitor subcontractor compliance, including insurance, lien waivers, and contract requirements. • Coordinate with project managers to resolve cost, billing, and budget issues. • Track and process change orders and ensure proper financial documentation. • Support monthly, quarterly, and year‑end close processes. • Assist with audits by preparing project‑related schedules and documentation. • Maintain accurate and organized project financial records.

What You Bring
Ideal candidates hold a bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance, possess 3–7 years of construction accounting experience, and are proficient with software such as Sage, ADP, and BuildOps. Strong Excel, analytical, communication, and problem‑solving skills are required, with CPA certification or progress toward it considered a plus. The position requires extensive travel (80‑100%), primarily office work with occasional site visits, and thrives in a fast‑paced, deadline‑driven preconstruction environment.
