About the Role

The Senior Mechanical Engineer role supports AECOM's multidisciplinary design team on challenging power‑generation projects, including the cutting‑edge stellarator fusion plant program. The position offers flexibility to work remotely or from various Energy offices across the United States. Key responsibilities include leading mechanical design on assigned projects, coordinating with piping teams, developing engineering deliverables such as drawings, P&IDs, specifications, and material requisitions, and providing technical expertise for risk assessments and due‑diligence studies. The engineer will also conduct quality‑control reviews, support construction, start‑up, and commissioning phases, and engage with clients, vendors, and regulatory agencies. • Lead mechanical engineering design for power generation projects. • Coordinate piping design and develop drawings, general arrangements, P&IDs, and isometrics. • Generate deliverables from feasibility through detailed design, including specifications and material requisitions. • Perform quality control reviews and support construction, start‑up, and commissioning. • Participate in client meetings and interface with vendors, regulators, and contractors. • Travel occasionally to client or project sites.

What You Bring

Candidates must hold a BS in Mechanical Engineering with at least six years of power‑generation experience. Preferred qualifications include a Master’s degree, Professional Engineer license, 12+ years in the field, and extensive knowledge of industry codes, equipment specifications, and software such as Thermoflow, Hysys, Caesar II, and BIM 360. • Minimum: BS in Mechanical Engineering and 6+ years experience in power generation. • Preferred: Master’s degree, PE license, 12+ years power‑generation experience, 5+ years as technical lead. • Expertise with industry codes (API, ASME, ANSI, etc.) and mechanical equipment specification. • Proficient in Thermoflow, Hysys, Caesar II, Pipe‑Flo, AspenTech, Navisworks/BIM 360.
