About the Role

The engineer will provide technical assistance throughout due‑diligence, design, permitting, construction and documentation for transmission and distribution substations, power distribution, renewable energy, and control systems across various sectors. Under supervision, the role includes collecting and analyzing data for substation components, creating single‑line and wiring diagrams, designing grounding and lightning protection, sizing equipment, and preparing procurement packages while complying with IEEE/NESC, NERC and local codes. Additional duties involve generating accurate project documentation, following safety procedures, completing assigned training, and adhering to WSP’s Code of Conduct. • Assist with due‑diligence, investigation, remediation, impact assessment, permitting, design and construction of utility and commercial projects. • Develop and review single‑line, three‑line, wiring, grounding, lightning protection and substation layout drawings. • Perform equipment sizing, load calculations, voltage drop, feeder and lighting circuit design. • Create procurement packages, cost estimates and documentation in accordance with IEEE/NESC, NERC and local standards. • Provide technical support for site verification, testing, maintenance and construction procedures. • Generate accurate electronic drawings, field logs and project reports. • Follow safety guidelines, complete required training and uphold WSP’s Code of Conduct.

What You Bring

WSP is searching for a full‑time early‑career Electrical Engineer for its Philadelphia office, working with the Property and Buildings Team on utility, industrial and commercial projects. Candidates must hold a bachelor's in Electrical Engineering, have 0‑1 year post‑degree experience, possess strong research and analytical skills, be familiar with engineering codes, and demonstrate effective communication, teamwork and basic proficiency with design software such as AutoCADD. Preferred attributes include recent graduation, Engineer‑in‑Training certification, relevant internships, and involvement in professional societies. • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering (or related) with 0‑1 year relevant experience. • Strong research, analytical and communication skills; ability to work independently and in a team. • Proficiency with technical writing, office software and design tools (AutoCADD, CADD, Aspen, CAPE). • Familiarity with electrical construction laws, codes and record‑keeping requirements. • Preferred: recent graduate, Engineer‑in‑Training certification, relevant internship experience, active participation in professional societies.
