About the Role

As a General Operative in Mears Group’s Planned and Retrofit branch, you will contribute to high‑quality improvement works that enhance homes, increase energy efficiency, and make a positive impact on communities. The role involves a variety of tasks to support retrofit projects, including site preparation, material handling, assisting skilled tradespeople, conducting minor repairs, and upholding health and safety standards. • Assist with site preparation and clean‑up of the site office. • Remove waste from the site and safely handle and transport materials. • Support skilled tradespeople in retrofit activities and conduct minor repairs. • Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations and maintain high work quality. • Collaborate with team members to meet project deadlines and report issues to the supervisor. • Participate in site meetings, take initiative on allocated tasks, and aim for first‑time completion within budget and time limits. • Provide high levels of customer care and work at heights when required.

What You Bring

Applicants must hold a full UK driving licence, be able to perform manual labour, and possess knowledge of PAS 2035 domestic retrofit and asbestos awareness. The position offers a salary of up to £29,488.20 per annum on a fixed‑term contract, with a 42.5‑hour workweek from Monday to Friday, and includes a company van and fuel card.
