About the Role
The position provides local technical assistance in the design, development, and construction of various infrastructure systems, ensuring documentation meets industry standards for safety and functionality. • Collect, compile, and analyze site data, surveys, GIS, and geotechnical information for project development. • Conduct research and inspections of existing and proposed conditions to ensure compliance with codes and permits. • Perform routine civil engineering tasks, providing entry‑level technical assistance on design and safety considerations. • Verify site characteristics and support engineering, design, and construction issue resolution. • Produce accurate documentation using electronic systems, drawings, and field logs. • Follow safety guidelines, site‑specific procedures, and WSP’s Code of Conduct. • Complete assigned training and adhere to ethical decision‑making regarding company resources.

WSP is seeking an early‑career civil engineer for its Knoxville, TN office. The role joins the Earth & Environment Team and supports client objectives across public and private infrastructure projects. WSP is an equal‑opportunity employer and requires candidates to be authorized to work in the United States. • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or a closely related discipline. • 0–1 years of relevant post‑education experience. • Strong research and analytical skills. • Familiarity with design/build processes and civil construction laws, codes, and regulations. • Effective interpersonal and communication abilities for technical and non‑technical audiences. • Self‑leadership with attention to detail, multitasking, and prioritization in a dynamic environment. • Ability to work independently under general supervision and collaboratively within a team. • Basic proficiency in technical writing, office software, spreadsheets, and engineering tools. • Proven commitment to workplace safety and compliance with WSP health, safety, and harassment policies. • Flexibility to work project‑specific schedules and occasional travel. • Engineer in Training (EIT) certification. • Experience with civil design software such as MicroStation, AutoCAD, Civil 3D, ArcGIS, InRoads, Geopak, GeoSlope, ANSYS, STADD, HEC‑RAS, or HEC‑HMS. • Prior internship related to civil engineering. • Membership or active participation in local professional organizations.
