About the Role
The engineer will lead commissioning activities, develop cyber‑security plans, perform testing, and collaborate with design engineers, project managers, and clients to integrate solutions. They will also provide training, prepare detailed documentation, and stay current with industry standards while mentoring junior staff. • Lead commissioning of Substation Automation Systems, including protective relays, RTUs, SCADA, and communication networks. • Develop and implement comprehensive cyber‑security commissioning plans with secure configurations, network segmentation, and access controls. • Perform Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT) and Site Acceptance Testing (SAT) for SAS and cyber‑security components, resolving discrepancies. • Conduct vulnerability assessments, penetration testing, and incident‑response drills to validate OT environment resilience. • Collaborate with design engineers, project managers, and clients to ensure seamless integration of SAS and cyber‑security solutions. • Troubleshoot complex SAS hardware, software, and cyber‑security configuration issues and provide timely resolutions. • Design and deliver training on SAS operation, maintenance, and cyber‑security best practices for clients and internal teams. • Prepare detailed commissioning reports, as‑built documentation, and cyber‑security compliance reports. • Mentor junior engineers and provide technical guidance on SAS and cyber‑security commissioning methodologies. • Ensure compliance with external regulations, internal procedures, and Hitachi Energy’s safety and integrity standards.

What You Bring
• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Cyber Security, or related field; Master’s preferred. • Minimum five years of progressive experience commissioning Substation Automation Systems or industrial control systems. • Demonstrated expertise in OT cyber‑security principles, IEC 62443, NIST CSF, and ISO 27001 frameworks. • Hands‑on experience with protective relays (Siemens, GE, ABB), RTUs, SCADA, and protocols such as IEC 61850, Modbus TCP/IP, DNP3. • Experience configuring firewalls, switches, routers, and security tools (SIEM, IDS/IPS) within critical infrastructure. • Relevant certifications (e.g., GICSP, CISSP, CEH) are highly desirable. • Strong problem‑solving, analytical, and communication skills; fluency in spoken and written English; willingness to travel frequently.
