About the Role
An exciting opening for a Coatings Specialist – Environmental Barrier Coatings (EBC) has arisen. You will work in a dynamic, integrated product team delivering advanced coatings and surface engineering solutions to Rolls-Royce worldwide. This role serves as the corporate technical expert in EBC material systems and drives innovation while collaborating with design, materials, and manufacturing engineers to introduce Ceramic Matrix Composite (CMC) components. • Lead development of novel coating systems and architecture concepts across a global team of technical specialists. • Define and implement unique laboratory and rig testing methods to generate key engineering and functional property data. • Develop capability within external testing service suppliers and the global University Technology Center (UTC) network. • Influence functional requirements for coatings in CMC components. • Present development, testing, and implementation of EBCs and advanced coating systems to engineering leadership and stakeholders at technical and program gate reviews.

What You Bring
• Understand fundamental behavior and controlling mechanisms for coating system properties and translate findings into material and manufacturing improvements. • Bachelor’s degree in Materials, Polymer, Ceramic or Chemical Engineering with 5+ years of experience in coatings or ceramic materials, OR Master’s degree with 3+ years, OR PhD in the same fields. • Must be a U.S. Citizen or U.S. Permanent Resident. • Background in environmental barrier coating (EBC) or thermal barrier coating (TBC) systems for gas turbine engine components. • Strong technical knowledge of coatings’ environmental, mechanical, and functional properties as applied to ceramic matrix composites. • Experience with industrial coating processes such as thermal spray, slurry/electrophoretic deposition, and CVD/PVD. • Expertise in coatings and materials microstructure and chemical analysis techniques to investigate performance mechanisms. • Expertise in data analysis and materials characterization.
