About the Role
The successful candidate will conduct natural‑resource field studies such as threatened species assessments, wetland delineations, and avian or wildlife surveys. Responsibilities include field data collection, QA/QC, use of GPS and topographic maps, preparation of technical reports and permit applications under the Clean Water Act, ESA, NEPA, and related regulations, and safe operation of SWCA vehicles. Staff Biologists may also supervise biological survey crews, assigning tasks, monitoring performance, communicating issues to senior managers, and enforcing safety plans. They are expected to provide timely feedback, resolve complaints, and, when necessary, administer disciplinary actions. • Conduct wetland delineations, threatened‑species assessments, and avian/wildlife surveys. • Collect, QA/QC, and manage field data using GPS, topographic maps, and aerial imagery. • Prepare technical reports and permit applications for Clean Water Act, ESA, NEPA, and related permits. • Operate and maintain SWCA‑owned vehicles, including 4‑wheel‑drive units, safely in remote locations. • Supervise and direct biological survey crews, assigning tasks and monitoring performance. • Communicate field findings and issues to project managers and regulatory agencies. • Enforce field safety plans and resolve on‑site complaints or disciplinary matters.

SWCA Environmental Consultants is seeking an experienced Wetland Delineator – Staff Biologist for its Arlington, Texas office. The role is full‑time, hourly with benefits, and offers a hybrid schedule in the Dallas‑Fort Worth area, with remote options for candidates in Texas or neighboring states. Candidates must hold at least a Bachelor’s degree in biology, ecology, environmental science, or a related field, or possess equivalent experience, and have a minimum of two years of wetland delineation and wildlife fieldwork. Completion of a 38‑hour wetland delineation training (or equivalent) and experience with linear surveys are required; familiarity with ArcGIS and GPS is preferred. The position requires frequent travel, with up to 80 % of time spent in the field, the ability to walk long distances in rugged or inclement conditions, and the capacity to carry up to 40 lb of equipment. • Hold a Bachelor’s degree in a relevant natural‑science discipline or equivalent experience. • Possess at least two years of hands‑on wetland delineation and wildlife fieldwork experience. • Completed a 38‑hour wetland delineation training course or demonstrated equivalent competency. • Prefer experience with linear surveys and proficiency in ArcGIS and GPS technology. • Ability to travel extensively, work long hours in rugged or inclement conditions, and lift up to 40 lb of equipment.
