About the Role
In this role you will create mechanical designs for components, assemblies and complete systems used in submarine propulsion. Your work will span the entire product life‑cycle, from initial concept through manufacturing, operation and eventual disposal, while ensuring compliance with cost, availability and safety requirements. You will collaborate with manufacturing, simulation, materials, testing and supply‑chain teams and document designs according to recognised engineering practices. You will also present your work at technical reviews and prepare safety and compliance reports. • Create mechanical designs for submarine propulsion components and systems. • Deliver full life‑cycle solutions from concept to disposal. • Work with cross‑functional teams including manufacturing, simulation and supply chain. • Produce documentation and verify designs against engineering standards. • Present designs at technical reviews and compile safety reports.

What You Bring
The ideal candidate has a solid background in mechanical design, with experience in areas such as process plant equipment, machining, tooling, pressure vessels or special‑purpose machinery, preferably gained in civil nuclear, marine, defence, aerospace, petro‑chemical, oil & gas or automotive sectors. A relevant qualification (degree, HND/HNC, apprenticeship or chartered status) is required, as is the ability to work safely and ethically in line with Rolls‑Royce’s core principles. Applicants must be eligible for a UK Security Check clearance; Rolls‑Royce will assist with the application where needed. • Hold a relevant mechanical engineering qualification (e.g., degree, HND, apprenticeship). • Bring experience with machining, tooling, pressure vessels or special‑purpose machinery, preferably in nuclear, marine, defence or related industries. • Obtain UK Security Check clearance; support provided for application.

The position is full‑time, on‑site, and offers a salary of up to £74,000 together with a comprehensive benefits package, including bonus, pension and the option to accrue additional holiday.
