About the Role

• Use Revit to model designed building elements. • Design engineering systems for large, complex buildings in health, civic, education, or science/technology sectors. • Review structural documents for interdisciplinary conflicts and coordinate resolutions. • Mentor junior staff on contract document development, calculations, and code interpretation. • Develop drawings, structural specifications, select materials and sizes, interpret code provisions, and perform calculations. • Communicate effectively with all project disciplines. • Participate in quality control reviews and resolve issues collaboratively. • Respond to RFIs, change proposals, shop drawings, and change orders during construction and update project documents accordingly.

What You Bring

• Demonstrate strong knowledge of building gravity and lateral analysis and design steel, concrete, and masonry systems. • Hold a Master’s degree in Civil/Structural or Architectural Engineering with a structural emphasis. • Possess a Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Structural Engineering. • Maintain a professional engineering license (PE or P.Eng) for the job location. • Bring prior experience as a structural engineer. • Proficient in Microsoft Office, AutoCAD, and analysis tools such as RISA, STAAD, SAP, Tedds, RAM, ETABS, SAFE or equivalents. • Have experience working for an architectural/engineering or consulting firm. • Demonstrate commitment to active participation in HDR’s employee‑owned culture.
