About the Role
The Design Engineering role is central to Regal Rexnord’s new product vitality and cost‑saving initiatives. The engineer will support Gear Division operations and existing industrial gear drives, working both independently on specific tasks and within a multi‑functional team to meet project goals. Flexibility is required to adjust priorities and timelines based on daily business needs, and the position provides technical guidance and project‑management support aligned with the company’s Strategy and Operating Plan. Key duties include complete gearbox design—covering castings, fabrications, revolving elements, shafts, coolers, and backstops—while meeting cost and capability targets. The engineer will manage project work and priorities to align with Stage Gate milestones, coordinate with domestic and international design teams, produce technical documentation such as catalogs and assembly instructions, write specifications, and integrate components in collaboration with suppliers. Additional responsibilities involve supporting manufacturing personnel, creating and monitoring test plans, summarizing results, and performing data analysis. • Design gearboxes, components, and accessories to meet cost and capability targets. • Manage engineering work and project milestones using the Stage Gate process. • Align team efforts with organizational goals for product vitality, cost savings, and simplification. • Produce technical documentation such as catalogs, manuals, and assembly instructions. • Review, approve, and release drawings in coordination with design teams. • Write design specifications, drafting instructions, and product requirements. • Select and integrate components, collaborating with suppliers and vendors. • Provide technical assistance to manufacturing personnel and other departments. • Create test plans, monitor testing, and summarize results. • Perform data analysis to support design decisions. • Lead cross‑functional global teams and coordinate with domestic and international designers. • Apply SolidWorks and GD&T principles in gear design projects. • Develop and manage action plans for assigned technical projects.
