About the Role
Multidisciplinary teams—including planners, engineers, architects, construction managers, environmental specialists, communicators, economists, and consultants—collaborate to solve complex mobility challenges with innovation and technical excellence. • Provide community and transportation planning services for municipalities, MPOs, state agencies, and transit agencies. • Collect and analyze project data, including research, interviews, map reviews, land‑use surveys, and socioeconomic analysis. • Conduct technical analysis using data analytics and GIS, presenting findings in narrative, map, and tabular formats. • Prepare documents such as categorical exclusions, environmental assessments, impact studies, and other technical reports. • Develop graphic presentation materials that convey complex data visually and create constraint maps for client and stakeholder education. • Support community engagement, public information, meetings, and hearings, facilitating feedback and consensus on planning proposals. • Write technical memorandums, reports, and other project deliverables.

What You Bring
• Master’s degree in Urban Planning or a related field (preferred). • Minimum three years of planning experience with a consulting firm or public agency (preferred). • Proficiency with industry‑standard communication software (PowerPoint, Adobe InDesign, Illustrator, etc.) (preferred). • Preference for local candidates (preferred). • Bachelor’s degree in Urban Planning or a related field (required). • Experience with Microsoft Office suite (required). • Strong writing, communication, and self‑starter attitude (required). • Ability to work independently and collaboratively (required). • Excellent conceptual, organizational, problem‑solving, and research skills (required). • Willingness to travel as needed (required). • Commitment to active participation in HDR’s employee‑owned culture (required).
