About the Role
The Consultant – Project Planner will assist in preparing and managing project programmes under the guidance of a Senior Project Planner or Project Manager. This role involves close collaboration with Technical Project Managers, multiple environmental and engineering disciplines, business support functions, and clients to produce high‑quality programmes that support financial and resource forecasting. The position is pivotal to the company's growth plan, as the successful candidate will help build a team of planners capable of supporting the full portfolio of projects within the Environmental Project Management Team. Responsibilities include contributing to the planning, scheduling, and control strategy for assigned projects, translating requirements from international (predominantly UK‑based) colleagues into accurate programmes, and delivering internal and external progress reports that clearly communicate status, changes, risks, and issues. The Planner will ensure consistency of programmes across the portfolio and the Environmental PM Team, provide planning advice and direction to project staff, sub‑consultants, contractors, and clients, and foster a performance culture aligned with WSP values to enhance both delivery and individual capability. • Assist in preparing and managing project programmes with senior oversight • Collaborate with technical, environmental, engineering, business, and client teams • Support financial and resource forecasting through high‑standard programmes • Build and lead a team of planners for the Environmental Project Management portfolio • Contribute to planning, scheduling, and control strategy for assigned projects • Translate international colleagues’ requirements into accurate programmes • Deliver clear internal and external progress reports covering status, changes, risks, and issues • Maintain consistency of programmes across the portfolio and PM team • Provide planning advice to staff, sub‑consultants, contractors, and clients • Promote a performance culture aligned with WSP values to develop capability

What You Bring
Technical expertise required includes demonstrable capability in project scheduling using tools such as Primavera P6, Primavera Risk Analysis, Microsoft Project, and advanced proficiency in MS Excel/Word for developing tools, Power BI dashboards, and stakeholder reports. Candidates should have at least seven years of relevant experience, advanced knowledge of planning philosophies and techniques, familiarity with Critical Path Analysis, Earned Value Techniques, and a solid commercial awareness of project management principles. • Minimum seven years of experience in project planning and controlling • Proficient with Primavera P6, Primavera Risk Analysis, Microsoft Project, and other planning tools • Advanced knowledge of planning philosophies, principles, and techniques • Experienced in Critical Path Analysis, Earned Value Techniques, and basic project management • Strong Excel/Word skills; able to create Power BI dashboards and stakeholder reports • Sound commercial awareness of project management principles
