About the Role
The role involves site development engineering and project management for a variety of land development projects, including civil design, permitting, and the use of hydrology and storm‑drainage modeling software, as well as AutoCAD and Civil 3D. Additional duties include research, coordination, staff management, cost estimating, bid‑package preparation, and development of technical specifications, while receiving training, mentorship, and exposure to plan production, project financials, and client interactions. • Perform site development engineering and project management for land development projects. • Complete civil design, permitting, and use hydrology and storm‑drainage modeling software. • Produce project drawings with AutoCAD and Civil 3D. • Conduct research, coordinate efforts, and manage staff. • Estimate costs, prepare bid packages, and develop technical specifications.

Kimley-Horn's Harrisburg, PA office is seeking a Civil Engineer-in-Training with more than four years of experience to join its Land Development team; this position is on-site and not remote. Candidates must have at least four years of experience with a civil engineering design firm, a bachelor’s or master’s degree in civil engineering from an ABET‑accredited university, and an Engineer‑In‑Training or Engineering Intern certification (or ability to obtain it within 12 months). Required skills include proficiency with AutoCAD Civil 3D, strong verbal and written communication, urgency, self‑initiative, detail‑orientation, and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively. • Minimum 4 years experience at a civil engineering design firm. • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in civil engineering from an ABET‑accredited program. • Engineer‑In‑Training or Engineering Intern certification (or obtain within 12 months). • Proficiency with AutoCAD Civil 3D. • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills. • Strong sense of urgency, self‑initiative, and ability to meet deadlines. • Detail‑oriented, collaborative, and able to work independently.
