About the Role

In this role you will collaborate with interdisciplinary experts across Canada and globally, working closely with Indigenous field support staff to ensure community‑driven and inclusive project execution. You will become a key member of a growing fisheries and biodiversity team that delivers work both nationally and internationally, helping shape responsible development and protection of freshwater ecosystems. • Conduct fisheries, aquatic biology, and water‑quality field programs across Canada’s freshwater systems. • Perform rigorous QA/QC on collected data and manage datasets, photos, and laboratory results. • Draft field trip summaries, SOPs, monitoring reports, and technical recommendations for clients. • Support environmental assessments and permitting for large‑scale mining and energy projects. • Collaborate with and train Indigenous field support staff to ensure inclusive project delivery. • Communicate professionally with clients, contractors, and multidisciplinary teams.

What You Bring

The position requires a Bachelor’s degree in Fisheries Biology or a related discipline (or equivalent experience), with field experience in fish and habitat assessments, fish sampling on lakes and rivers, water‑quality sampling, and aquatic biology. Candidates must understand federal, provincial, and territorial regulations relevant to mining and oil & gas, possess strong written and oral communication skills, demonstrate proven data‑management and QA/QC capabilities, and show a strong commitment to safety, problem‑solving, and independent work. A valid driver’s license, willingness to travel, and a Pleasure Craft Operator’s License are required; a Master’s degree and certifications such as electrofishing, first‑aid, ATV training, or swift‑water rescue are preferred. • Hold a Bachelor’s degree in Fisheries Biology or related field (Master’s preferred). • Demonstrated experience in fish habitat assessments, fish sampling, and water‑quality sampling. • Knowledge of federal, provincial, and territorial regulations relevant to mining and oil & gas. • Strong written and oral communication, data‑management, and problem‑solving abilities. • Valid driver’s license, ability to operate a company vehicle, and willingness to travel frequently. • Possess or obtain a Pleasure Craft Operator’s License; certifications such as electrofishing, first‑aid, ATV training, and swift‑water rescue are advantageous.

Benefits

Compensation is hourly at $30.29‑$34.59 CAD, with potential bonus eligibility, and includes a comprehensive benefits package featuring paid time off, parental leave, medical, dental, vision, life, disability, AD&D insurance, and retirement plans (RRSP/DPSP).
