About the Role
The role involves quality‑control construction observations for highway, bridge, site work, drainage, paving, concrete, reinforcement steel placement, utility relocation, traffic protection, and safety. Inspectors must read contract documents and construction plans, monitor sequencing, cost, schedule, and performance decisions, and maintain accurate document control, quality‑assurance records, and uniform contract documentation. • Perform quality‑control observations for highway, bridge, site work, drainage, paving, concrete, steel placement, utility relocation, traffic protection, and safety • Read and interpret contract documents and construction plans • Monitor and track construction sequencing, cost, schedule, and performance decisions in the field • Maintain proper document control, QA documentation, and project records • Ensure uniformity and quality across contract records

What You Bring
Candidates need at least one year of construction engineering or inspection experience, including roadway inspection and traffic protection for day and night operations. Experience with bridge rehabilitation or new construction is a plus, as is NICET certification and a valid driver’s license. Proficiency with computers, strong time‑management, organization, attention to detail, and knowledge of NCDOT road specifications are preferred. Applicants must be able to read, write, and understand English for job‑related communications. • Minimum 1 year of construction engineering/inspection experience, including roadway inspection and traffic protection • Bridge construction experience (rehabilitation or new) preferred • Valid driver’s license; NICET certification preferred • Proficient with computers and software • Strong time‑management, organization, and attention to detail • Knowledge of NCDOT road specifications a plus • Ability to read, write, and understand English
