Oversee onboarding, coaching, safety and performance of frontline drivers

About the Role
This role is responsible for onboarding, developing, coaching, mentoring, and performance management of all drivers and helpers. The incumbent establishes and maintains positive relationships with front‑line employees and spends the majority of the day in the field supporting them. The position ensures that new front‑line staff receive the tools, instruction, and feedback needed for daily duties, while providing consistent communication and support throughout the onboarding process. Ongoing performance is enhanced through regular best‑practice reviews, career‑goal focus, and collaborative improvement initiatives. • Provide tools, instruction, and feedback to new front‑line employees. • Conduct daily check‑ins with new hires to ensure consistent onboarding communication. • Maintain regular touchpoints and review best practices to improve performance. • Support front‑line employee career goals and identify improvement opportunities. • Lead coaching conversations and seek feedback on coaching effectiveness. • Model and enforce safety practices; conduct root‑cause investigations for injuries and incidents. • Teach and reinforce “the WM Way” principles. • Document and maintain regulatory records (e.g., DOT compliance, DVIRs, time‑and‑attendance, tickets). • Audit daily route operation documentation and follow up on discrepancies. • Visit customers and sites to evaluate and resolve safety issues and explore service alternatives.

What You Bring
Required qualifications include an associate’s degree (or a high school diploma with two years of relevant experience), being at least 18 years of age, legal work eligibility, and a valid driver’s license. Completion of the WM Operations Manager Trainee program is a preferred qualification. The role operates in a hybrid office and field environment, requiring standard office equipment as well as physical activity related to plant and site visits.
