About the Role

A Structural Welder will weld, fabricate and assist pipe fitters, electricians, millwrights, and ironworkers in the installation of varying types of equipment and supports for industrial pipe, structural, electrical, and mechanical systems. • Stick‑weld various equipment and materials. • Provide all listed tools by start date. • Select equipment, plan layouts, and apply geometry and welding techniques. • Layout, cut, assemble, and fit metal components in diverse positions. • Bolt, clamp, and tack‑weld components before welding. • Set up and operate arc, gas‑shielded, submerged, or arc‑gas welding equipment. • Weld metal to piping and equipment using appropriate procedures. • Identify required equipment and safety risks for each job. • Read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, and technical manuals. • Perform stick welding in 2G, 3G, and 4G positions. • Weld carbon steel, stainless steel, aluminum, and chrome as needed. • Assist with non‑welding tasks when required. • Maintain reliable transportation and ability to work at heights. • Work at heights, ladders, stairways, and platforms with fall protection.

What You Bring

• Hold a current Zachry welding certification or pass a weld test. • Minimum 4 years welding experience on industrial equipment. • Use welding rods such as 6010 and 7018 proficiently. • Understand metal characteristics and select correct welding processes. • Current Zachry employee or ROF’ed status preferred. • Prior experience with Zachry Industrial, Inc. and combined‑cycle power plant projects. • Stand, walk, bend, squat, sit and lift frequently; lift up to 50 lb. • Communicate verbally and audibly while using hands for signaling and tool handling. • Operate in heat and weather conditions while wearing PPE. • Wear hard hat, safety glasses/goggles, hearing protection, respirators, safety vest, gloves, and leather boots. • Certification HBZ‑131 required for 2G, 3G, 4G welding. • Complete weld test using six ½″ carbon steel coupons and a ¼″ backing bar (SMAW/Stick). • Required tools: locked metal toolbox, stinger, TIG rig (combo), welding hood, chipping hammer, Klein pliers, 12″ & 15″ Crescent wrenches, 25′ tape, file, 4‑12 lb beater, torpedo level, combination square, welding gloves, leather overhead aprons, rain coat, rubber boots.
