About the Role
• Deliver all field logs, data, samples and/or equipment to and from various project sites, laboratories, and office locations. • Participate in TRC’s health and safety program, conduct daily pre-job tailgate meetings and/or job safety assessments. • Participants in Youth Build programs; • Capture field data/information/photographs accurately meeting high expectation of quality. • Be responsible for, operate and maintain instruments such as, air sampling pumps, XRFs, and other scientific equipment. • Communicate with managers and field team regarding project status and requirements. • Maintain daily logs of activities related to project work. • Properly use and maintain personal protective equipment, which may include tight fitting respirators.

What You Bring
• Residents of other public housing projects managed by NYCHA or residents of Section 8-assisted housing managed by NYCHA • Must be a reliable team player, able to communicate with project management team, and follow instructions. • Experience with water quality field measurements (e.g. pH, chlorine) and collection of water samples for various biological and chemical laboratory analyses. • Ability to carry and climb ladders and being able to use hand and power tools. • US EPA Lead Inspector with at least one year experience. • Work effectively at project sites, independently, with a team, or under direct supervision, as the needs require. • Residents of NYCHA • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office software (Word, Excel, and Outlook). • NYSDOL Asbestos Monitor • Strong preference for candidates possessing any of the following certifications: • Most work shifts are Monday through Friday, 8 AM • 5 PM. Must be able to adapt to alternate work shifts, including overnight or weekend shifts when needed. • Low- and very low-income persons residing in New York City. • Must be able to learn, and demonstrate competency in the use of new technologies, and applications. • Experience using the Viken Pb200i. • Consideration will be granted to candidates with advanced college degrees, with a preference to scientific disciplines such as Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Sciences, or Engineering. • Travel throughout all five boroughs of New York City. Potential travel outside of New York City as needed. • Ability to read construction plans. • This position requires long-term standing, walking, and perhaps repetitive motions. • Strong organizational skills. • Must be able to pass a pre-employment background check, drug screen and motor vehicle records check. • Strong verbal communication skills and ability to interact respectfully and gain trust with residents and other stakeholders, to meet project objectives and maintain confidentiality. • Lift and carry 20 pounds regularly. May require lifting up to 60 pounds on occasion.
