Operations Director - Project Management

About the Role

This senior role will handle construction delivery for a major Hertfordshire residential scheme while serving as the business unit’s construction specialist. It combines hands‑on site leadership with strategic guidance across the development portfolio, ensuring robust buildability, programme, quality, procurement and Building Safety Act compliance from early feasibility through to project handover. • Lead delivery of the Hertfordshire residential scheme. • Oversee programme, quality, safety and commissioning activities. • Promote zero‑harm culture and ensure SHEQ compliance. • Coordinate planning, utilities and statutory approvals. • Manage stakeholder, joint‑venture and local authority engagement. • Deliver ESG, social value and carbon‑reduction commitments. • Supervise handover, after‑care and defect resolution. • Support commercial control, change management and reporting. • Provide construction expertise across the development portfolio. • Conduct assurance, buildability reviews and uphold departmental standards. • Act as a client‑side construction leader with large‑scale residential experience. • Apply strong contract, programme, safety and regulatory knowledge (JCT/NEC, BSA). • Uphold safety‑first ethos, ensuring a safe, diverse, inclusive work environment. • Deliver on client focus by owning quality and building long‑term relationships. • Create opportunities for people to excel through continuous improvement and development.

Benefits

The full‑time position is split between on‑site work in Hertfordshire (Stevenage area) and regular attendance at the client’s head office in London, typically 2‑3 days on site and 1‑2 days in the office, with potential flexible work‑from‑home arrangements agreed with senior directors.
