About the Role
The R&D HVAC Engineering Technician supports engineers in research, development, testing, and maintenance of engineering systems and equipment. Responsibilities include conducting tests, experiments, and calibration procedures to ensure accurate and reliable results, as well as collecting, recording, and analyzing data to provide insights to project teams. The role also involves operating and maintaining a variety of technical equipment and instruments, troubleshooting technical issues that arise during testing or operation, and implementing solutions to maintain project continuity. Accurate records, logs, and documentation of testing procedures, results, and equipment maintenance activities are kept for future reference and analysis. • Support engineers in research, development, testing, and maintenance of HVAC systems. • Conduct tests, experiments, and calibrations to ensure accuracy and reliability. • Collect, record, and analyze test data to generate actionable insights. • Operate and maintain technical equipment and instruments used in projects. • Identify and troubleshoot technical issues, implementing effective solutions. • Maintain detailed records, logs, and documentation of procedures and equipment. • Ensure compliance with quality standards, regulations, and project requirements. • Collaborate with engineers, technicians, and team members to meet project goals. • Follow safety protocols to promote a safe working environment. • Locate parts, diagrams, and drawings independently using the AAON database. • Apply analytical problem‑solving abilities in a fast‑paced environment. • Work in an office, test lab, and manufacturing facility with seasonal temperature extremes, dust, and chemical fumes. • Perform physical tasks such as lifting up to 50 lb, climbing, stooping, and prolonged standing or sitting.

Candidates must hold a two‑year HVAC degree from a technical school and have 1‑3 years of HVAC industry experience or equivalent. EPA 608 and A2L certifications are required, and additional education or experience is considered an advantage for career development. Key competencies include effective communication, strong attention to detail, analytical problem‑solving, teamwork, task management, and efficiency in a fast‑paced environment. • Hold a two‑year HVAC degree from a technical school. • Possess 1‑3 years of HVAC industry experience or equivalent. • Hold EPA 608 and A2L certifications. • Demonstrate effective communication and strong attention to detail.
