About the Role
The Director of Sales – Portables will lead the North American portable‑compressor business, reporting to the Vice President of Portables/OEM and serving on the Portables/OEM leadership team. This role is responsible for building, training, and guiding a diverse, remote sales organization to increase revenue and solidify the Sullair presence across the region. A disciplined focus on customer satisfaction and strong leadership are essential to drive an industry‑leading sales and support team. Key responsibilities include implementing aggressive sales growth plans aligned with profitability and product‑mix goals, recruiting and developing sales talent, and providing ongoing coaching and performance management. The director will identify new business opportunities, expand existing accounts, and work closely with product management to address market gaps and shape product offerings. They will also ensure compliance with HGAP processes, maintain accurate sales records, produce regular performance reports, and lead CRM development and activity implementation. • Execute aggressive sales growth and profitability plans for portable compressors in North America. • Recruit, hire, and develop a high‑performing remote sales team, providing coaching and performance reviews. • Identify new business opportunities and expand existing accounts to achieve revenue targets. • Collaborate with product management to close product gaps and launch market‑leading offerings. • Resolve customer issues quickly and maintain high levels of satisfaction. • Maintain accurate sales data, generate forecasts, and drive CRM (Salesforce) utilization. • Ensure compliance with HGAP processes, core values, and professional standards. • Uphold Hitachi’s code of ethics, safety regulations, and diversity and inclusion commitments.

What You Bring
Candidates must have a bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience, with at least ten years of B2B sales leadership in industrial equipment and a proven track record of meeting sales targets. Experience recruiting and growing sales teams within a matrix organization, a metrics‑driven sales process, and direct‑sales expertise to industrial end users are required; air‑compressor background is preferred. Strong communication, presentation, negotiation, and proficiency in Microsoft Office and Salesforce are essential.
