About the Role

As a Business Intelligence (BI) Analyst I, you will manage concurrent analytical projects and collaborate with organizational and functional departments to translate simple requirements into analytical applications and solutions that support business cases. You will design, develop, and maintain basic to intermediate BI solutions using technologies such as Tableau, Excel, Python, and Alteryx. In this role you will act as a technical resource for reporting and analytics projects, familiar with daily data sources and responding quickly to ad‑hoc problems. You will advise analytics projects by applying best‑practice design, development, and data‑visualization techniques, and you will contribute to technical documentation to ensure accurate reporting solutions. Responsibilities include assisting with the management of the Tableau Server environment, covering data sources, security, and subscription configurations. Additionally, you will bring data to life through storytelling and advanced visualizations, and actively engage in the Port of Seattle’s BI community by preparing user‑group materials and attending conferences or training sessions. • Manage multiple analytical projects and translate requirements into BI solutions. • Develop and maintain Tableau, Excel, Python, and Alteryx dashboards and reports. • Serve as technical resource for reporting, troubleshooting ad‑hoc data issues. • Advise on analytics design, best‑practice visualizations, and maintain documentation. • Oversee Tableau Server data sources, security settings, and subscription management. • Create data stories and advanced visualizations to convey insights. • Contribute to the BI community by preparing user‑group materials and attending trainings. • Collaborate effectively with cross‑functional teams to meet project deadlines.

What You Bring

The position requires at least six months of experience analyzing large data sets, using SQL and visualization tools such as Tableau and Alteryx, and understanding data modeling and warehousing concepts. A bachelor’s degree or higher in computer science, mathematics, information technology, or information security is preferred. You are expected to apply equity principles, think critically, communicate findings clearly, and maintain meticulous attention to detail while managing multiple tasks and deadlines. Collaboration with cross‑functional teams is essential to success in this role. • Minimum six months experience with large datasets, SQL, and visualization tools. • Preferred bachelor’s degree in CS, math, IT, or related field. • Demonstrate critical thinking, strong communication, and meticulous attention to detail.
