About the Role

• Interpret project plans, specifications, and details for subcontractors and craft persons. • Implement pre‑construction quality plans and oversee testing and inspection processes. • Obtain and maintain construction permits while managing fee payments and expenses. • Develop and maintain material tracking, test and inspection logs, concrete placement records, and non‑conformance reports. • Create, distribute, and manage contract documents and electronic RFI/correspondence procedures. • Set up submittal registers, obtain approvals, prepare transmittals, and coordinate packaging and review. • Expedite submittals to align with the project schedule and communicate requirements to subcontractors and suppliers. • Define and implement closeout procedures, including posting revisions to as‑built documents. • Mentor, manage, and evaluate field engineers, and identify alternative work methods. • Coordinate safety and compliance for the team and ensure timeline completion.

Mortenson is seeking an experienced Project Engineer II for an initial project in New Mexico. The role involves interacting with staff at all levels, reviewing and resolving field coordination issues, and maintaining professionalism and confidentiality. The engineer will interpret plans, implement quality plans, obtain permits, manage documentation, submittals, and safety compliance. Candidates must hold a bachelor’s degree in construction‑related engineering or management and have at least three years of construction experience. They need strong detail orientation, basic knowledge of construction law, teamwork, communication, problem‑solving skills, a professional attitude, and a valid driver’s license. • Bachelor’s degree in construction, civil, architectural engineering, or construction management. • Minimum three years of related construction experience. • Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple tasks. • Basic understanding of construction law and standard business practices. • Effective teamwork, initiative, communication, and problem‑solving abilities. • Professional attitude with strong customer service skills. • Valid driver’s license.
