About the Role

The incumbent will provide transmission line design, engineering, technical support, and oversight to a transmission engineering team, delivering safe, cost-effective, and high-quality services. Responsibilities include leading discipline work, performing charge engineering duties, managing schedules and budgets, and supporting proposal development and cost estimating, especially for renewable energy interconnections and grid modernization projects. The work is complex, requiring major decision‑making where established procedures are not available. The role influences moderate‑level decisions and requires tactful interaction with stakeholders. Although there are no direct reports, the incumbent will oversee the project team in the preparation of design drawings. • Provide engineering and technical expertise to identify, analyze, and resolve transmission line problems. • Plan, organize, estimate, schedule, and monitor work activities effectively. • Prepare thorough, timely, and accurate technical reports, correspondence, calculations, and sketches. • Continuously improve engineering knowledge, skills, and performance. • Create and interpret transmission line drawing packages. • Support company goals and represent the organization positively and professionally. • Interact daily with customers' internal engineers and technical personnel. • Develop and maintain professional relationships with customers. • Monitor deliverables and schedules, presenting solutions to clients as needed.

What You Bring

A Bachelor’s degree in an ABET‑accredited engineering program is required, along with 8–10 years of electrical industry experience in power delivery. A Professional Engineering (PE) license is mandatory. On‑the‑job training will be provided as needed. Candidates must be able to read and interpret technical documents, write simple correspondence, and respond to customer or regulatory inquiries. Mathematical skills should include applying fractions, percentages, ratios, and interpreting spreadsheets. Reasoning ability includes interpreting technical instructions and solving practical problems with limited standardization. The role demands a solid understanding of engineering theories, research practices, and the ability to work independently or with limited supervision. Strong written and oral communication skills, cultural competence, and self‑motivation are essential. Knowledge of electrical engineering concepts as they relate to civil‑structural designs is also required. Desired qualifications include a BS in civil/structural or electrical engineering, NCEES‑recorded PE registration, and 8+ years of transmission line design experience at 69 kV or higher. Technical competency should cover line components, grounding, sag/tension limits, right‑of‑way requirements, bill of materials preparation, and familiarity with codes such as NESC, ASCE, IEC, IEEE, among others. Experience with PLSCADD, PLSPOLE, and PLS TOWER design, cost estimating, and mentoring junior staff is also valued. Physical demands are primarily sedentary, with occasional standing, walking, and handling of tools; lifting up to 25 lb is required on occasion. The work environment includes moderate office noise and occasional exposure to outdoor weather, electrical shock risk, extreme temperatures, and humidity.
