About the Role
Core responsibilities include analysing historical failure data, applying statistical methods to forecast reliability, conducting root‑cause investigations (FTA, FBD, RBD, 5 whys, Fishbone, FMECA, FRACAS, RCM analysis), reviewing maintenance tasks for gaps, benchmarking performance against RAM metrics, documenting findings and communicating results, and developing new maintenance strategies and training programmes. The engineer also seeks new technologies and collaborates across departments to embed reliability into operations.

What You Bring
Candidates must hold a bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering (or equivalent) and have at least eight years of experience in defence or related industries such as maritime, rail, manufacturing, water, mining or oil & gas. Required skills include reliability engineering, statistical analysis, RCM tools, strong system knowledge, maintenance strategy expertise, and proficiency with MS Office and reliability software (e.g., OPUS, MADe, eLESPro). Desirable experience covers RCM2/RCM3, MIL‑STDs, DEF(AUST) 5691/5692, DOORS, ship systems, and Defence design delivery. Applicants need an active Baseline Defence Security Clearance.
