About the Role
The National Account Sales Manager for the Environmental Solutions Group – Marathon Equipment reports to the Director of Sales and works remotely from anywhere in the United States. The role’s primary responsibility is to develop and expand the national‑account waste‑generator customer base, focusing on large multi‑facility logistics, fulfillment centers, and major retail companies. Key duties include growing sales and market share within the retail sector—such as grocery, convenience, and sporting‑goods stores and logistic centers—and collaborating with product management, engineering, and parts/service teams to design and promote turnkey preventive‑maintenance, warranty, and service programs. The manager also sells connected asset‑management equipment packages, participates in product development and VOC activities, manages RFP responses, and utilizes Salesforce for forecasting, quoting, and tracking market trends and competition. • Develop and expand the national‑account waste‑generator customer base, targeting large multi‑facility logistics, fulfillment centers, and major retail companies. • Grow sales and market share in retail sectors such as grocery stores, convenience stores, sporting‑goods stores, and logistic centers. • Collaborate with product management, engineering, and parts/service teams to create turnkey preventive‑maintenance, warranty, and service programs. • Sell connected asset‑management equipment packages, including installation and maintenance agreements, alongside PM and service offerings. • Participate in product development, voice‑of‑customer activities, and manage pre‑production prototypes and trial runs. • Identify, prepare, and execute responses to all request‑for‑proposal opportunities. • Use Salesforce for forecasting, quoting, tracking opportunities, market trends, and competitive information. • Plan appointments, manage travel logistics, and allocate time efficiently. • Coordinate with dealers and regional sales managers to support efforts within the assigned area of responsibility. • Report sales performance, expenses, and territory plans through written and verbal communication. • Provide support to credit and warranty departments for collections, repairs, and installations as needed. • Monitor market trends, competition, and emerging product needs to inform strategy. • Travel up to 50‑60 % of the time to meet customers and prospects.

What You Bring
Effective time management is essential for planning appointments, arranging travel, and supporting dealers and regional sales managers within the assigned area of responsibility. The position requires regular reporting on sales performance, expenses, and territory plans, as well as providing assistance to credit and warranty departments for collections, repairs, and installations. Travel is expected for up to 50‑60 % of the role. A bachelor’s degree is preferred but not required; candidates must have at least five years of outside sales experience, preferably in the waste or recycling industry, and be comfortable with extensive travel.
